Camp Programs

Camp Walden offers a wide range of activities for every camper's interests. Campers participate in land sports, waterfront activities, creative and performing arts and outdoor adventure activities. Our campers enjoy structured programs and for the most part they move with their age group to and from the activities - this gives each camper the chance to enjoy a well-rounded program while cultivating strong relationships with their peers.

During each day, we offer one choice period for younger campers and two choice periods for older campers. All of our campers enjoy one daily optional period, “club”, which is built into the schedule so each person has the opportunity to focus in on one specific area per week.  Campers can choose this activity from a wide variety of athletic, adventure, and performing or creative arts, according to their interests.  Our Senior camp (after 6th grade) also have one more additional choice period that is offered daily to provide the opportunity to have our campers even further customize their day.

The other available choice period for all campers is called “free-play”, which is offered daily after dinner.  All of our specialty staff awaits our campers as they have the chance to devote their energy in areas that most excite them: This includes all land and water activities.  (The ski dock is often a hot spot during free-play.)

Session Information: At Camp Walden we offer both full session and half sessions, and a two week option for our youngest campers during their first summer. The CIT program is only offered as a full summer option.

Our specialty counselors are passionate in their work areas and they offer high quality instruction. Every camper is encouraged to experience new activities, express themselves creatively and to improve existing skills all while enjoying and cultivating friendships. Each age group receives warm, personalized attention from counselors who share enthusiasm for our many exciting activities. The camaraderie, teamwork, spirit and laughter permeate all corners of Camp Walden as the children actively enjoy their days and evenings.

The passion and spirit that reverberates through the staff and the campers, and the strong feeling of family at Camp Walden, is what makes our camp so special. Limiting enrollment allows us to be just the right size. We are large enough to offer all of the program activities of large camps, but small and intimate enough that each child and each counselor know each other well. The strong sense of family provides a safe place for our campers to try new things, build strong skills and cultivate meaningful friendships.

For our Walden campers who have completed 9th grade, the Walden Teen program is an exciting opportunity. Combining the best of “camper life” with exciting multi-day trips to fabulous locations such as Montreal, Boston, Niagara Falls and Toronto, makes this a summer to remember.

Our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for those that have completed 10th grade is extremely popular. CITs receive extensive training to become future counselors, while still enjoying their summer living together as campers. The CITs also have the opportunity to go on weekly trips and an extended trip as well.
